Question
Hi Jess

I'm writing to you because my cat die yesterday night (i guesss) shes a normal cat andn 11 years old.  she had major operation the last 9 years when her babies die inside her and after that she never had any babies.

My cat, Comel din gave any sign... shes healthy and behave like normal. She die outtside of our house on the ground laid down as if shes sleeping. (she never sleep on the ground before). My neighbours told us that they heard dogs and cat fighting that nite. and yesterday morning we saw Comel on the ground and wet (its rain on that nite).

Until now I wonder y she die is it because of the dogs? but no sign of bites or its just her time? I got a feeling last week that I have not pampered my cat as I was busy and I ve got the instint that my cat too old and im afraid i dint play mmuch with her. And yesterday was the ime... im so sad.....

I hope you can answer me, Jess. Old folks saying that cat will neverv die in front of  their owner. is it true?

Answer
A lot of cats will hide when they know they're going to die.

It's possible your kitty died of old age.  The average life span is 12-15 years.  There isn't any way to tell for sure, though, unless you bring the cat to the vet and have an autopsy done.  She might have been poisoned or hit by a car, or she may have been attacked by dogs.  Sometimes there is no sign of injury on the outside, but the inside is crushed.  There are even some kinds of cancer that don't cause any symptoms until a couple hours before the cat dies.  And blood clots are the same way - the cat appears perfectly healthy until the blood clot gets stuck in a major artery and kills the cat instantly.  So, I'm afraid I can't give you a solid answer.  But my thoughts are with you.
