siamese cat peeing

Question
I have a siamese cat that is about a year old he was found on the side of the road with a fractured tailbone at about 5-6 months old.  He is very very skidish and I cannot do anything without spooking him (even just getting on the couch) he is relatively friendly and even likes to be pet but never held.  He has peed on my sons bed twice (he is only there on the weekends) he never pees when my son is there but he seems most content with my son who basically leaves him be.  The litter box is maybe 3 feet from the bed, the vet tells me he might have been scared which i dont think is the case he is always a little scared.  He also likes to chew on my christmas tree ( i know time to take it down already LOL) and shred toilet paper all over the house.  I am thinking that he is just not happy becuase no one is there during the day but there is nothing i can do about that.  We try so hard to make him feel comfortable but he is always doing something like peeing on the bed or shreding toilet paper.  I dont know what to do

Answer
HI Frank,
I think your cat peed on your son's bed to "mark" it. In other words, he is telling your son that the bed is his! LOL  Cats will do that, and Siamse are very smart cats. He may like your son, but he is letting him know who is the boss!  If I were you, I would tell your son to keep his bedroom door closed.  As far as tearing up the tissue paper,it is perfectly normal and it may be because he is bored. My cats will get into things too. They practically demolished my Christmas Tree.  Every morning, I would find ornaments all over the living room floor!  I have four cats and they have a ball playing together.  You may want to consider getting a kitten as a companion to your Siamese. They won't like each other at first (been there, done that) but they will eventually LOVE each other.  Just a suggestion!

God Bless,
Becky
