Question
my kitten got baby oil on her fur. is it harmful to her in any way? I've gotten as much off her as possible. i just want to make sure she will be ok.

Answer
To be completely honest, I'm not sure if baby oil will harm her, but remember that she will be ingesting an oily substance into her system as she grooms herself. At the very least, it's going to affect her digestive system, and perhaps give her the runs.

Have you considered bathing her to remove the oil (unless you've already done so, in which case, nevermind)? Since she's apparently still very young, you can bathe her in warm to hot water (bit not too hot) - I would use the kitchen sink since it's less space for her to skitter around than a bathtub, and use either shampoo made for kittens/puppies, or baby shampoo. In a pinch - and I used to do this to remove natural oils from my cats' coats prior to a show to poof out the coat - use a little bit of dishwashing detergent like Dawn. It's very important that you rinse all the soap.

If there is still some oil left in patches, my old standby would be baby powder, poofed into that area, then carefully combed out (don't brush, as brushing would just moosh the powder into the coat). The powder absorbs the oil, and makes it easier to remove.

Plus she'll smell really nice.

I hope this helps. Good luck.
