Missing Cat Cant Get Back Home

Question
My outdoor/indoor five year old nutered male was last seen before a rain storm in december. Wondering if he cant find his way home because the rain washed away his scent?

Hi Salli,  I'm so sorry to hear about your lost boy!  Have you been putting fresh water and food outside for him?  Been checking with your local shelters to see if someone picked him up?  Try contacting your local paper to see if they can run a lost cat ad with his photo in case someone thought he was not owned and took him in, since it has been a while.  

When cats are scared out of their normal territory, they run and then lose tract of how to get back home - this is where we can help them if we begin right away!
