Cat pooping in the food dish! Yikes!

Question
I have a Cat, Gracie, (who is not graceful- don't let the name fool you), who is a grumpy, grumpy girl. We rescue cats from the streets around our home and have seven of them to date.  The newest joined our household over 6 months ago.  Gracie has been with us for 6 years or so.  She is the third cat out of seven.  She has always been a grump and recently starting peeing in the kitchen sink.  I took her to the vet and even though she showed no real signs of a UTI, the doctor advised treating her for one, and we did, and the peeing stopped.  HOWEVER, now she is pooping in the food dish.  She does this every few days, and this morning she did it while she was looking at my husband and I.  She wanted to go outside, which is not allowed except on weekends when we are at home, so we did not let her out.  After telling her no and shooing her away from the door, she went to the food dish and started to dig. I scolded her with a sharp word, (Never hit my kitties) and she desisted for a moment; then went right back and turned around, looked right at me and began to poop. I lifted her away from the dish and she managed to poop on the floor instead of the dish.  I cleaned it up and let her go outside for a little while as I did not have to go to work right away.  When I let her back in, half an hour later, she seemed fine. I went to dress for work and returned to the kitchen and found a load of poop in the kitchen sink.(How nice!) I know it was Gracie and I don't know what to do about it.  There have been no changes in our home, no new kitties, no change in litter or food, we have 4 very large litter boxes which are kept immaculate.  I'm stumped! Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated!
Thank You.

Answer
Hi Adele.  I hate to be the one to tell you this, but in Gracie's mind you have done something to make her mad.  This explains pretty much everything she's done - in particular, the pooping where she shouldn't while she's staring you down.  The only advice that I can offer is to NOT give in to her, and to make sure that she gets lots of love and attention from you (the good kind!)

I wish I could be of more help... let me know how she does!
