QuestionMy male cat is just over two years old and I had him fixed when he was about 6 months old. He attempts to hump my female cat, who was spayed after she had a liter of kittens. My male cat is one of her offspring. He also likes to hump my blanket covered leg in bed, usually early in the morning. I don't think this is normal behavior in neutered cats. What can I do to make this behavior stop. I spoke to a vet and she said that it would require a lifetime of hormone therapy or I could just tolerate it and let him do his thing. Is this correct?
AnswerAmber,
Has your vet checked to make sure the hormone levels are correct for a neutered male?
If he was a monorchid or cryptorchid when you got him neutered, there could be some testicular matter somewhere left in him.
If this is the case, it would be difficult and require a surgery to do something about it.
So, the choices outlined by your vet may very well be your only options.
