Question about my cat Chevy

Question
My cat has a disease which makes him break out in ulcers. In the beginning they were so bad, he was always bleeding from his face and paws. The vet placed him on oral steroids which he took for about 3 months. It helped, but the sores did not go away completely. Today we took him back to the vet and he was given a shot of prednisone, and we have to bring him back in 2 weeks for the second shot. As soon as we brought him home we are noticing very sharp twitching / spasms on him back. It gets so bad that he tried to lick the spot, and because it doesn't stop he starts running around the house like crazy. The twitch is very visible to the eye and it moves his whole back. Could this be a reaction to the shot? Is this normal in cats? What can we do for him?

Answer
Hi Adriana,

If this is the first time he's ever done this and it seems to have started right after his shot I would think it was some kind of reaction to the shot.  Call your vet and let them know about this, they might want you to bring him back in or they may prescribe an anti-anxiety medication or even an antihistamine if they think this is a truly allergic reaction.  I would at least let the vet know what is going on and let them decide the best course of action.
