QuestionOur barn cat has just given birth and has what I think to be engorged nipples - huge bulges behind the nipples . .what can I do to help her get nursing?
AnswerTina,
Are the kittens nursing? If not, something is wrong and a vet visit may be in order.
By huge bulges, how huge?
She should be nursing the kittens on her own.
If you think there is a problem with her mammary glands, again, a vet visit is in order.
It is normal to have some protruding of the nipples and swelling of the mammaries as they are full of milk.
Best regards... Norm.
