litterbox issue

Question
hi, i'm just surfing for some info and landed on this site.  i don't know how this works but here goes: i adopted 2 stray kittens from the humane society in may.  they are probably around 5-6 months old, brother and sister.  my little boy has no tail and we were worried that he might not be able to control his bowels or bladder function - with manx syndrome their spines don't finish properly in utero and their bowels get impacted or they don't realize when they have to go, so they go anywhere.  but, so far our only issue is, sometimes, not always, he hops out of the litter box before he's quite finished pooping. he always goes INTO the litter box when he has to go, but he doesn't seem to know that he's not done yet and gets out too soon.  an ideas or suggestions?  thanks very much, jennifer

Answer
Hi Jennifer,

This is a little different litter question than I usually get. I have one guy who does the same sometimes. I did two different things and they seemed to help. I got a really wide and long litter box,( I used a dog litter pan). It gave my cat more area to use and he didn't jump out right away. I also got a large outside mat and placed that by the litter box so if he did travel with "friend" it would drop on the mat and not my floor. I hope this helped. Good luck.

Ciao, Karen
