My cats cleanliness

I have a 6mo. old sphynx kitten. He is not interested in cleaning his own butt. We had hope after he was neutered this behavior would change. We have been forced to give him daily butt baths. Do we continue this, or should we stop? Are we at fault? Should we continue the butt baths? Will he ever clean himself?

Is he having firm poops?  Are his anal glands impacted?  It may also be that if you stop cleaning his butt, he may start cleaning it on his own.

It is natural for cats to be cleaning themselves unless they feel a bit puny. I am wondering if he was having some kind of loose stool problem and just was not feeling up to snuff?
