1 week old kitten care

Question
Hi Karen,
I do rescue work locally for Contra Costa Animal Svcs in Martinez CA. I intercepted a 1 week old kitten that was being brought in by a family that lived next door to a foreclosure. There was a litter but supposedly the Realtor took the kittens. This one was left behind in a trash can. She/he hard to tell this young, is doing well. Good appetite, no apparent flea infestation etc. I have had her since last Saturday. Tonight I am a little suspicious of some very tiny (pin head size spots bilateral above her eyes that are very slightly red and maybe the start of alopecia. I wondering if she could have the very prelim stages of ringworm. My question is is she too young to treat topically with an anti-fungal cream? I know she is too young to bathe.

thanks

Answer
Hi Tamara,

Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. Have a house full of feral kitties I am trying to tame.
Yes she is too young for any treatment. The spots maybe nothing. Use a wash clothe to bathe her. Make sure the water is warm. This should help. And if she has fleas here is a link that will help you with that.

Sounds like all is fine. And that you know what to do. Hope this helped.
Good luck and take care.

Ciao, Karen
