Question
can i touch my cats babies when they r 9 days old

Answer
Dear Cameran

Your question made me smile and I do apologise but yes you can touch them with care. Why I am smiling is that most breeders do actually hold their kittens as soon as they are born and weigh them every 12 hours for the next 7 days to see how they are progressing.

Do take care with the little fluffies and don't upset mum. What will happen is she will let you hold them and cuddle them. Then she will take them back and lick off all your scent from them.

Enjoy them, kiss them and talk to them it helps socialise them as well.

They are all so beautiful and soon they will be up and about, usually around 3 weeks of age. What you need to do now is wait until they are about 4 weeks old then start putting down kitten food to encourage them to wean off mum. Do watch they actually eat this, sometimes it helps to stick their noses gently into the food. Also put down both wet and dry food in separate dishes to help their overall diet. we usually start off with cooked fish or fresh mince. Remove any food not eaten within one hour to prevent it going off and smelling.

At around 8 to 9 weeks they need a trip to the veterinarians for their first injections then followed up at about 13 weeks by their second booster.
