my cat is getting closer

QUESTION: I know I'm probally bugging you and I'm so sorry if I am. My cat has a clear discharge and clear stuff coming from her nipples and I talked to a vet and they said she's really close and I need your opinion. Do you think she's close by what I'm telling you? She's also sleeping a lot and she's started to eat a lot in the last 5 days and she's also acting like she's in heat for the last 5 days... I'm thinking she's close do you?

ANSWER: I'm sorry to say its not an exact science.  Anything coming from the nipples should be a creamy white milk and any discharge showing she is imminent should be coming from her vagina.

Cats are all very different - some will stop eating a few hours before, some will eat right up to the event.

She may (but they don't all do it) start making a nest for her kittens but even that does not indicate that they are imminent as some do this for a week in advance but some a lot nearer.  The shape of her tummy will change nearer the time and she may want your company more. If you are able to take her temperature, that will drop when she is imminent too.

You need to count 65 days from the date she was mated and that will give you a reasonably accurate date of delivery.

QUESTION: She does have a clear discharge from her vagina and it's been here for about 6 days now. And when I talked to a vet they told me anyday now and I looked up some information on the comptuer and they said that before she gives birth that she will have clear stuff coming from her nipples. And she was acting like she was in heat ONLY at night now the last 2 days she's doing it all day.

In 33 years of breeding I have never come across a cat that displays as if they are in season when they are about to kitten.  YOu have said that she is quiet - have you asked the vet to check her out as it makes me wonder if she is having slight contractions but there may be a kitten in the wrong position.

What IS her due date (65 days)
