Question
The last 2 years when our dog recieves her yearly booster shots the skin dies and hair come out and never grows back. This year Vet said he would put it in muscle and that would cure it but after the shot in muscle it has be running or puss or blood for 3 weeks now and I am sure the skin is going to die there too. Also she becomes very sick after these shots.

Answer
That is an extremely rare reaction to a vaccination!  In 27 years of practice, I have never seen that.  Has your vet reported this reaction to the vaccine manufacturer?

Several things can be tried.  The vet can use a different manufacturer for the vaccine next year.  You can also get the dog a shot of an antihistamine about 1/2 hour before the vaccine.  And ask the vet if he uses Lepto in the vaccine.  That can probably be eliminated from the vaccine.

If this happens again, then just get a rabies shot every 3 years and forget about the other vaccinations.
