Question
QUESTION: I have 3 cats.They're fed dry,dental diet & indoor cat food.
Siamese neut.male 11yrs.,eats & regurgitates his food several times a week. Also all 3 cats love that kitty grass,
which causes them to vomit. Is any of this OK? THANK YOU FOR
YOUR TIME.

ANSWER: Kitty grass does make them vomit. That is their way of clearing out the system now and then.

While regurgitation isn't normal it is not unusual at all.
Some cats just eat too fast and that causes regurge.
Some cats do well if you feed them a little less or you moisten the dry just a teeny bit or feed wet food.

Cats that vomit a lot need to be evaluated for gastric problems as well as possible heartworms. That is one of the symptoms of heartworms in cats.

QUESTION: How often should I give them cat grass? I would think vomiting often could cause an electrolyte imbalance, is that
true?

Answer
They can have it once a week or so. Vomiting continually without let up for 24 hours will cause dehydration and electrolyte imbalances, you are right, but the kind you are talking about is more cathartic.

All cats, including big ones, and canines do this stomach purging now and then. It is a rare thing for a cat to eat greens except for this time so somehow they know it's good for them.
You are being a good cat owner!!
