Vomiting Dog

Question
Hi, I have a 9 month old black lab named Cloe who recently got very ill.  She has been vomiting for 2 days now and will not eat.  I have tried giving her a bit of pepto bismol but does not seem to be helping.  She is very alert in her surroundings but only wants to lay around.  And one good thing is there is not diarrhea involved but she is not going at all.  Urination is good though. Could this be just a stomach bug sort of thing or maybe if you got ahold of a bone or something in the trash(which she is good at)?  It is really scaring me and I really do not know what to do.

Answer
Hi Katie,
Well I am going to assume that Cloe has been vaccinated through to 16 weeks old and that she must have eaten something bad.
Now the problem with that is twofold: She can get very dehydrated if she continues to vomit and she could also have an obstruction.

Hopefully you are not feeding her bones as they can kill her.
If she isn't passing any stool by later today and she is still vomiting you really need to get her into the vet's for the above two reasons.
No stool can mean she hasn't eaten anything to pass or she has a total obstruction. Usually with a partial one they have some diarrhea.

Don't wait past today- she can go downhill very fast if she becomes toxic from an obstruction.

So call the vets.
