Question
My dog Scrappy has been upset I know, but you see... my brother just moved out and my dog slept in the same room as my brother. the last night he slept here after you moved almost everything out... my dog nearly refused to go near him he was so mad. Scrappy knew what was happening and he wasn't happy. normally, my brother only had to call and my dog would happily come running in. Not last night though! My brother had to drag him in the room. As I said, Scrappy was clearly upset. he also has allergies so we give him dermacaps and benedrill - however it is spelled. and the vet told us that should take care of his eyes and nose and stuff... which it does BUT I noticed today that even after we got home form a walk and he was fine. That 5 minutes later when I went to see him all alone in his "den" his eyes had been running like his fur was wet like as if he had been crying almost and he was panting A LOT in a strange way. I was wondering if it was something with his medication or could he be in a depression? I mean could my dog have TRUELY been crying? and also my mom is worried about his panting.... I do think he is breathing funny as well.... he seems to ALWAYS be panting, and even when he was just laying on the floor I noticed he was panting at a much quicker rate then usual... Im nervous and I doubt my mother will take him to the vet unless his breathing gets REALLLLY strange. should we give him space or should I try to like have him go in my room more? so he's not so lonely. I simply don't know how to make my baby feel better, and I feel so bad for him. he's so mellow now. he barely does anything but lay around. I only got him to move around more because I got him to take a walk. Please help me and my potentially depressed doggy...

thank you so much!
Bree

Answer
Bree, I don't know what to say - YOUR Scrappy should not be breathing like you mentioned.  I know he is stressed an upset but this just isn't right.
He may need to see the vet.
Make sure he has plenty of water - fresh water with an ice cube.
Give him some space but check on him often.

Let me know how he is in the morning...OK
Call the vet if he starts to foam at the mouth.. OK
