cat urinating blood

Question
2 hours ago my cat started living tiny puddles of urine everywhere. About half an hour ago they started looking pink and they are getting darker shades of red. We have no animal hospitals or 24 hour vet care in my area. Will he make through the night?

Answer
Well this is certainly not a good sign, especially for a male cat. He might just have a bladder infection, but the problem with male cats is that it is very easy for their bladders to plug up with a toothpaste like sludge that builds up from bacteria, dead cells and crystals.

If he is urinating at all, that is a good thing. I am sure it's going to be bloody, but at least he is still going. Once they plug however, they can die in less than 24 hours.

So keep an eye on him, get him to drink a lot of water and feed him only some wet food so he gets a lot of moisture.

You absolutely need to get him to the vet hospital first thing in the morning. Don't wait.

If he stops urinating you will have to find a vet somewhere fast.
