Hi, we have had a new white dog for a month. All was well until the rains started. He always wants to go out six times a day and run thru the woods. we are worn out bathing him. We could put him on his leash but don't know if he'd go in the yard or not. How can we keep this white dog clean? We supply doggie treats and toys in the living room and he has plenty of room to race around but still gets bored. thanks, suzy

Hi Suzy!He is probably just very bored,so he wants to go outside and have some fun out in the woods.Here are some home remedies you can try for his boredom:

A little exercise might get that out of his system.How much exercise depends on what yuor pet is used to.In  ost cases,yuo can begin with a 20-minute walk several times a week and then work up from there.You don't have to kill
them with fatigue,but you want him to feel tired enough to feel tired enough to settle down for a while.

Not all pets crave company,but sometimes having a doggy friend will help chase their blahs away.You can't expect an animal to sit at home alone waiting for you at leadst nine hours every day and not get bored.Having another dog or anything that your pet will get along with could do wonders for his spirit and help decrease the bored behavior.

Television can provide real entertainment and can help alleviate boredom for some dogs.Leave the television on a channel he might enjoy and see if it helps.

Many pet stores now carry actionpacked videos designed especially for dogs and cats.

Filling the room with music can keep things from getting dull.Some dogs like Beethoven.Dogs that are vocally inclined will get a special kick out of these music sessions.

Some people call from work and leave a message on the answering machine so their pets can hear their voice.That could help,but if your pet is likely to be sleeping,you'd best leave well enough alone.

Yo keep your dog entertained,try setting up a bird feeder outside the window.Some dogs enjoy a little bird-watching.

An aquarium full of fish can provide hours of colourful entertainment for you and your pet.It's important,however,to use a covered aquarium,which will prevent the evening's entertainment from becoming the main course.

All dogs were once bred for certain tasks-like retrieving ducks,hunting bear or snagging varmints-and they may feel frustrated when they can't perform their "duties."To keep your dog happy, encourage him to do what he does best.For a terrier,you might try setting aside a small part of your yard where she can dig.Or give him a big pile of old clothes inside the house that she can burrow into.For a Labrador retriever,nothing beats splashing in cold water,and just about every dog enjoys visiting new territory and getting in a good sniff.

Have a chew fest.Dogs always like to chew, so make her day with a special treat.Stuff a hollow dog toy with peanut butter or your pets favorite food.
