The green algae in my tank is starting to expand.  originally only on samd and a litle on the front part of the glass.  now it is forming on a few rocks.  on the sand it is easy to move by ciphoning butit is a sympton of something I should be concerned with.

Answer -
Hi Steven,

Please do some water tests on ph and nitrates. How long has your tank been in operation? Please get back to me and I will try to help. Thanks, Gerry.

Ok good you were correct i now have 15.0 (actually between 10. 20.).  I will do the following - anything else?

1.  - 1/3 water change with water from my ro-di unit at the correct temp and salinity .
2. clean out my filter and my protein skimmer.

any thing else?

Answer
Hello again Steven,

Try some algae eating invertebrates, and A lawnmower blennie or an inexpensive tang, or both, will help. Your store expert should be able to direct you to shrimps, crabs, stars and snails that will definitely do some good. The algae feeds on nitrates so if you starve it the problem will tend to disappear. Good luck and have fun, Gerry.
