Question
Is a 40 gallon tank big enough for adding live rock to. My tank doesn't have livestock in it yet. I am sort of new to saltwater but I do know how to take care of it due to reading information on it and with friends who have saltwater tanks. Is this a big enough tank to start out with. I know I need the proper lighting and other factors. Thankyou

Answer
WITH SALTWATER THE BIGGER THE BETTER DUE TO THE FACT THE LARGER AMOUNT OF WATER YOU HAVE THE MORE GRADUAL ANY CHANGES IN THE BIOLOGY OF THE TANK ARE. FORTY IS FINE TO START OUT; JUST GO SLOW GET EVERYTHING RIGHT BEFORE ANY LIVESTOCK IS PUT IN. LIVE SAND AND LIVE ROCK IS FINE AND AFTER FEW WEEKS A COUPLE OF DAMSELS WILL HELP CYCLE THE TANK. SHOULD CYCLE FOR A MONTH TO SIX WEEKS BEFORE YOU BUY ANY EXPENSIVE FISH. HAVE FUN, GERRY. PATIENCE IS THE KEY.
