Question
I got a carpet anemone about a month ago. It was about 4 or 5 inches when I got it and now its about 10 inches. Growing like crazy. Ive been feeding it 2-4 large pieces of shrimp or 6 pieces of krill a day. It seems like its always hungry. Am I feeding it too often? Can it be overfed?

Answer
Hi Tonya,
They do get big... and sometimes very quickly. Carpet anemones, like other anemone, arent really capable of over feeding. They will only eat as fast as they can process. And that can be 24/7 in some species and systems. Ive seen them move, sting and eat everything in their path in a 90 gallon over the course of 4 months.  The main reason people are advised to watch feeding quantities(with 99% of marine animals) is size. Carpet anemone can get very huge, very fast when given a good home with lots to eat. So depending on your current tank size... how soon you plan to upgrade to a larger system should be in the back of your mind. Good luck. Let me know if you have any more questions.
