QuestionQUESTION: Hi i have a 130ltr marine tank and i have these green balloon like things growing on my live rock some are like air/water filled elongated balloons and some are round with a crust like outer any idea what they are please? and are they harmful to my fish? i have yellow tailed damsels x 2 honey damsels x 2 harlequin goby x1 clown fish x 2 a medium sized seahare and a red scallop. all doing well.
ANSWER: hello angela,
Im not totally sure about this, maybe alittle better description of the bubble/balloon thingies???
Could they be Green Bubble Algae???
These are kinda common, but, are not good to have in the tank... cause they grow fast and all over...
Typically, these are removed by hand... take out the rocks and scrape the green bubbles off, and put them in the freezer to kill them.. (to keep them from finding ther way into your local streams and oceans...
Please look up some images of 'Green Bubble Algae' to compare to yours and please let me know if they are a match... Or, if not, maybe a better description, or pictures
