Red knobbed Starfish addition

Question
Hi, I have a question about a the new red knobbed starfish that i added to my aquarium.  I had a case of Ick in my 90 gal tank about 1 month ago and put in a medication (non-copper) and it seemed to help out. about 2 weeks ago i added a big bag of carbon to take out any left over medication and raised my s.gravity to 1.022.  they day after i stabilized my tank i bought this red knobbed starfish and put it into a smaller 14 gallon tank 1st just to make sure that my 90 gal was stable.  my issue was that i had a heater malfunction and took my temp close to 90 deg. for about 3-4 hours .  I noticed it and immediately put him in a bucket with half warm water and half from my other tank to cool it down a bit(didn't want to shock him to a instant cooler temp.)  I did a drip acclimation to my new tank for about 3 hours and put him in my 90 gal.

My question is this. all the suction cup legs seem to me moving but the starfish itself is not moving around. Every now an then it moves a leg up off the sand a bit.  Do you know if it may be in shock from that temp issue? will it recover? do i just wait it out or how do i tell if it is not making it?

Thanks, Dustin

Answer
Hi Dustin,

Perhaps your starfish is still acclimatizing, give it some more time to make a full recovery. Within a few days, from non-movement, you'll be able to definitely tell if it's not recovering. In the meantime don't subject it to any further water fluctuations.

I wish you luck with your starfish, and hope it makes a full recovery.

Sincerely,
David
