Fish Pond Leak

I have a pond that seems to have sprung a small leak somewhere, and was just wondering the best way to find it . Its two large circles with a narrow bit joining them. Is there a way of damming one side off while i check the one side to save me taking the fish out, if so what would i dam it with? Any help would be great cheers ;)

The only thing I can think of is use a damming sock for water available at a safety supply store. It looks like a long snake meant to contain spills. Dam it at the narrows and weight it down this should prevent water transfer from 1 section to another.
