Question
Dear Leigh
I built a large pond in October this year it is 5m x 8m x 2m deep at its deepest point and has about 40,000 litres of water. When the machine was digging the pond we came across two springs in the bottom. The spring were so strong that the pond nearly filled overnight. Probably foolishly I pumped out the water with a powerful pump and quickly installed the pond liner and filling it with water. The problem is now is so much water came under the liner that its now risen up and is floating on the top. The liner is a Polyex liner that I bought from Bradshaws Direct. The pond has completely filled from the underneath so I know it would stay full in the Winter even without a liner, however I dont know what would happen in the summer. can you please help me

Answer
It is almost impossible to stop water without capping the source. I think the best thing to do is live with it, maybe bank the sides with flat rock to slow down erosion put in some gravel on the bottom to filter the water. This could be a blessing in disguise the pond may not be the clear pristine pond you immagined but it will be a natural pond that you might come upon in the wilderness. The big thing is if the pond does not overflow enjoy it for it's natural beauty. Fish and plants will love it. You might install a recirculating pump with a fountain head for looks

          Hope this Helps
