Question
We have pond that we stocked this past spring.  We have large mouth bass, minnows, sunfish, and bluegill.  They are maybe 4 inches at most.  Can we add some koi of equal or larger size?  The pond is about an acre and 6+ feet deep?  Thank You.

Answer
Hi Deb,
Thanx for your question.  I personally, wouldn't want to waste my time or money putting koi in a stock pond.  The idea behind koi is that they are ornamental and pleasant to watch in an ornamental pond.  In a stock pond, the water is going to be cloudy and you won't be able to enjoy you koi much if at all.  If you're just wanting to stock the pond with some koi, they will live in it just like their cousins the carp would if you put carp in.  They're pretty hardy.  They should do fine.  I hope this helps.
Tom
