covering ponds

hi i have another question about my pond how and what do you cover the pond  with so animals or children dont get in it and destroy the pond ,do you use like a net or fine chicken wire.i want some thing that dosent look ugly and how do you fix it on the pond to stay.we have just dug a pond shape and lined it with plastic and placed rocks around it and planted plants in between the rocks.thanks cathy

I think it is difficult to cover the pond with mesh an not take away some of the beauty. You might try chicken wire on a framework that covers the whole thing it would be light enough to put over the pond fully when you are not home or at night. The other thing you might try is a net that farmer throw over trees to prevent birds getting at the fruit. You would have to put 2 or 3  2x2 pieces of wood over the span of the pond and anchor the corners  with rocks, either way is not really great, I would wait to se if you have troubles before acting too hastily.
