dogs in pond/missing frogs & fish

Question
Recently we've noticed that our fish in our 80 gal. pond were not just dead, but missing.  I've noticed cats around the pond at times, therefor, I thought maybe that was the culprit, BUT, this morning to my surprise there was a med.size dog in the pond.  I couldn't believe it.  Would dogs and/or cats eat my goldfish and/or frogs?

Answer
Hi Margie,
Thanx for your question.  Every morning, in the summertime, I would get up and look out my bedroom window at the pond at the end of my yard and see cats sitting on the rocks staring intently into the water.  I knew what the critters were doing because periodically, there would be missing fish.  Yes, a dog will jump into ponds and catch fish.  They usually won't eat them but will play with them or drag them off and dump them when they are tired of them.  I've seen dogs carry away toads too.  We had a dog that always did it and then she would froth at the mouth.  Cats will eat the goldfish but I don't know if they'll eat frogs.  They might catch them and play with them and eventually kill them that way too.  I hope this helps.
Tom
