Losing Water

Question
I have a 3600 gallon pond with a water fall. In the last year or so I have been loosing large amounts of water. Some times when I refill it will stay full for months and other times it will be low the next day. I am not sure where to start looking for a leak or if you think there may be another problem.
If you think it is a leak, how do you find it?

I have been giving your question some thought. Water loss in a pond can vary greatly with the weather (wind and sun can take a heavy toll), but I really have trouble coming up with a suggestion since I do not know what you mean by "large amounts" of water?
