pond rust

Question
We filled our 6000 gal pond with well water. It was very clear for a day, then had a yellow cloudy color to it. A pond person told us it was the rust and had us add Iron Out to it. That cleared it up for a couple days, and then it went back to the same cloudy yellow. Because of this, we have not added the beneficial bacteria or any thing else. can you help us figure out what this is and clear it up?
Thanks,
Kay

Answer
If you have a biological filter which you should have be sure to put pond peat in the filter it stabilizes the water.
Do you have a pump or fountain running? I think it would be OK to add some plants. The water should clear. The problem is that for a pond that size the chemicals are fairly expensive. Try pond peat . I am pretty sure it will do the trick it seems to be a wonder drug for ponds.
