Goldfish Tumor

Question
Hello,  I have two goldfish in a 20 gallon tank.  They are about 9 yrs old.  The one fish has a huge tumor next to his gill which grows steadily bigger, and now has two horrible black spots on it.  I spoke to a vet long ago when the tumor was new and he said it wasn't a parasite from what I described.  I'm quite sure it's cancer.  Is there something I can do to make this poor fish more comfortable?  The tumor is now bigger than his head and I feel so bad for him.  :o(  Thanks.  -Dawn

Answer
Hi Dawn,
If the fish is showing signs of distress then i would recommend taking him to the vet as they can remove the tumour. Tumour's are usually harmless to fish although they can cause discomfort. There is no medication used to remove Tumour's. If you notice the tumour getting any bigger, take him to the vet,

Good luck!
Chloe.
