Question
Hi...was wondering if you can answer question/help on Ich and our shark.  7 years old, has Ich outbreak.  Has had it before, this time BAD due to stress of new tank (bigger one) and new fishmates that were quarantined and no signs of ich when added.  We have raised the temp up to about 85, added Aquarisol, partialed tank, PH 7.0-7.2, very little ammonia if at all....are we missing something?  Can't seem to get it under control. Can/How much kosher/sea salt should we add to help promote slime coating and get help rid of parasites?
Also have a Raphael Cat of 5 years with him.
Any advice...much appreciated.  Had him 7 years!
Sincerely, Bethany

Answer
Hi Bethany,
Maybe you should try a medication called Ich Guard II or Rid Ich+. Both of these are supposed to be milder and can even be used on catfish. It probably wouldn't be good to add salt in your aquarium since sometimes catfish don't tolerate it too well. Be sure to have alot of aeration since some medications cause a lower amount of oxygen in the water. You might want to use an air pump and an airstone to help with this.
Sounds like you have done a great job with your fish so far.
A seven year old shark and a five year old Raphael Cat is awesome!
Best of luck,
Karen
