Discus fish do not actually get "pregnant." The female lays eggs and then the male comes and fertilizes them. Now, they often present a change in behavior that says they will soon lay the eggs, they often become more aggressive to the other fish in the tank, or even to you. They will often stay in one place in the tank, as in a big leaf or rock or flat surface. Also, the female tends to look alittle fuller in the belly than the male does. They have very similar breeding habits to angelfish but are alittle more difficult to breed due to their picky water requirements. I hope this helps. Let me know if you need anything else.
