Question
We have one beta in a ten gallon tank and a tetra outside filter. The package says to remove charcoal filter during use what is considered the use time and it says do not use in soft water which is what I have, what can I expect, if I use the product or should I use it, what should I use? If we use the product what are the consequences?

Answer
Hi,
The product will likely not work if you keep the charcoal filter media in the tank, as the nutrients from the medicine will be filtered out by the charcoal.
I'm not sure why it should not be used in soft water, there is not reason why it shouldn't work then.
So, just remove any charcoal media (usually black pads) from your filter, and you can use the medicine.

On another note, unless a fish is diseased, it is usually a bad idea to add chemicals to the water. Ones which reduce nitrite, get rid of algae, clear cloudy water etc usually just don't work. They can sometimes harm the fish.
If you have a problem, I will give you alternative means of getting rid of it without using chemicals.

Best wishes,
Kathryn
