how can you tell if a southern platy is pregant? i have one she has a black spot inside her belly by the anul vent an i seen a pic online that had the same thing i was wondering if she was pregnat or not

If you see a black "patch" behind her stomach, which is called a gravid spot, then chances are she is pregnant. If she is a very dark color, you won't be able to see it. Also, if she is pregnant, her stomach area will look squarish. The squarer her stomach looks, the sooner she will give birth. Give your pregnant fish food that is high in protein. This includes both live and frozen brine shrimp, bloodworms.
