Is my female betta still pregnant with eggs?

Question
Hi Jaymie, my female betta that I said was a mouthbrooding betta, I actually think shes just a regular betta. Also its been about a week now and she still looks pregnant with eggs, Im starting to get a little worried now because I have not fed her for that amount of time, she also still has that white dot on the bottom of her stomach. Do you think I should start feeding her or not, One more thing, when shes absorbing the eggs, if she still is, does she get nutrients from that or not, cause I dont want to think that Im starving her? Thank You

Answer
Blake,

Yes she will get nutrients from the eggs when she absorbs them. Maybe start feeding her once a day. If you feed her pellets, give her 3 a day if its flakes give her a little pinch. Do not feed her blood worms or brine shrimp because that food gets her ready to breed and we don't want her to have any more problems. She will always have that white dot, but it protrudes more when she is with eggs. We don't want her to become egg bound, so we don't want to feed her rich foods like the blood worms and brine shrimp. I have never had a problem with my females not absorbing the eggs. She might not have had eggs when you thought she was pregnant and is just now getting to that point. Just watch her closely and let me know if anything changes.
