Arrowana acting goofy

Question
Hello,

I had written a while back, about a silver arrowana, and wanted to update you, because nothing is working. Anyway, it is about a foot long, and a month or so ago, I put him in a larger tank, and he hasn't eaten since.

He is alone in the tank, it is 80 degrees in there, there are 0 nitrites, and no ammonia, the ph is rather high, about 8.4 but he was used to that in the other tank? Also, the general hardness was high, around 28, I understand they enjoy from 0-3. But like I say, it was the same water as in his other tank, I added bacteria to cycle, and liek I said, no ammonia.

He swims back and forth, and before, he was a great eater. Now, the food literally bounces off his face. A fellow at the pet store assured me he would eat after 3 weeks or so, but so far, nothing.

The reason I'm writing you again is that his back fin is starting to get a little weathered, and I've put in slime coat stuff, and I just don't know what it is. I've been trying to slowly lower the ph, but like I said, his last tank was high, and he seemed perfectly happy. Anyway, any ideas? I've read they get spooked by reflections off the glass, but he doesn't seem too stressed out, just not hungry. He's starting to get skinny.

thanks

Answer
Hi Damon;

Poor guy! I don't know what could be wrong. I will post your question over on the freshwater fish forum and see what the other members think.

Before I do that, I would like to know how big the new tank is and how big the fish is too. Also, what kind of filter system and such. It is helpful to get as much info as possible. You just never know what we could be missing in figuring this out.

Followups welcome
