Question
I have two 3 inch fat fantail fish.  They have pellets in the a.m. and peas in the p.m.  I test the water once/wk and seem to keep all in line except for the PH which seems to be at a acidic level of 6.2, the nitrate level seems to push 40.  The water seems whiteish/cloudy.  The fish seem not to be in distress except for an occasion darting through the water and have also found one on two occasions to be upside down in a divit in the gravel prior to the water change/chemical treatment.

Answer
Hi Lisa,
Testing the water isn't as important as changing it. You need to be changing 25% of the water once a week, every week. Are you doing that?    If you do, you will see the cloudiness go away and the nitrates will drop.

Also, be sure that you are not putting in more food than the fish can eat right away.  Never put in food for the fish "to eat later".  It will just rot and add to the cloudiness.
