Parrot cichlid fish

Hi

I dont know if you can answer my question but i hope you can? I want to buy parrot cichlids but i want to know how do i tell the male from the female in the shop, and how do i keep and breed them?

Hello Ruan,

Parrotfish are very difficult to tell male from female.  Furthermore, they are hybridized and 90% are not fertile.

You can get them to breed, but the chances of raising fry are very slim.

The male will get some longer fins as an adult.  Other than that, you buy 6 or so, and watch them pair up.  :)
