Injured tiger cichlid - need help

Question
We have a 100 gallon tank, with over 50 pounds of lace rock, which has been housing three Oscars (red, tiger, albino) with no problems. all levels test okay.

Our tiger somehow became wedged in between the back glass and a rock apparently fell over trapping him (or her). It took us 4 days before finding him  half-way submerged in the gravel. We tried to coax him out but we misunderstood his reaction as protecting the eggs we thought may have been laid. So, we left him alone and waited. Today, we determined we'd better get a more clear look at the situation.

We were horrified to discover that he was truly trapped. We immediately freed him. he has sustained left-side damage: the tissue above his eye is whitened and a bit swollen. his left pectoral fin is half the size as the right and there is a chunk out of his tail fin. his left side has lost scales - nickel sized patch. he's been moving around just a lot slower.

What things can we do as soon as possible to improve the chances he will recover? i realize he is much more vulnerable to disease and illness right now.

we'd appreciate advice - best regards

Answer
Hi Pamela,
I suspect that there is more going on here than a fish getting stuck. I suspect he stuck himself to get away from one or both of the other fish.  That would explain the wounds.  He will likely heal if given a chance, but I would strongly suggest isolating him from the other fish.
