Question
Hi Leah,
I had 7 budgies one died due to a beating by another one in the cage. Then i found the one that was alive was pacing up and down on the perch and acting very strange, flying about like a crazy bird.. can you shed some light on this behavior they were together for the past nine months, they look like males but I'm not too sure. I do not understand this behavior so sudden.
Thanks Leah for any help on this matter.

Answer
They may look like males, but this degree of aggression is usually typical of females.  I don't know what triggered this aggression.  The only thing that you can do is isolate the troublemaker and wait until she calms down.  Females tend to be very hormonal and aggressive, and unfortunately incidents like this aren't uncommon.  I'm sorry that this couldn't have been corrected before your other bird died.
