Questionbird has an abrasion on top of breast just under wing that runs along the entire underside of wing. Has lost feathers in these areas with black muck %26 onset of maggots or some kind of larvae. There is lump or possible swelling on the breast, can perch but is a bit off balance. Washed with diluted dettol %26 applied manuka honey. Bird eating, drinking %26 squawking dusk %26 dawn. What's the best way to address wound.
AnswerWell, it certainly sounds like he has quite a wound, that would be best treated by a veterinarian.
I would wash the wound thoroughly with mild soapy water, and then rinse well under running water. Nest treat with 3% hydrogen peroxide, and then cover the wounded area with 50/50 honey and aloe vera. (Natural aloe vera strait from the plant works the best, but a 100% aloe vera gel from the store works too.)
I would cleanse the wound 3-4 times a day.
