Question
About three years ago my mum took on a pony that the RSPCA had taken off someone. He was not cut and in a terrible state including a huge scar around his fetlock joint and the vet thought about 2years old. Although he is very wary of men he has grown into a lovely horse and now 5. We started to break him in this year but our facilities at our stables were insufficient and we sent him to a lad to ride away for us who has a career in breaking in horses, and is known to sit on anything. Unfortunately he is being sent home after 4 days due to his wild and dangerous behavior. The guy trying to ride him away for us has never seen anything like it apart from in Australia at a rodeo.
He couldn't even sit on the horse but managed to the day before. He has deemed him to dangerous and can't take the risk. This guy has never once got angry with the horse his methods are extremely calm and quiet. He thinks the problem is from the horses past and maybe a horse whisperer might help? Is there anything you could suggest or someone you could recommend as we are not ready to wright off our horse.

Answer
Hello,
There are so many great clinicians out there who can help you. If you were in my area I would love to, but wherever you are some great Natural Horseman probably clinics only a few hours away. Keep an eye out for Brian Neubert, Buck Bennamen, and any other clinician you read about who catches your attention.
Someone once asked Tom Dorrance how to get the buck out of a horse, he simply replied- I'd rather leave it in him. Any horse can buck, kick, strike, bite......ANY HORSE! The goal is to go slow enough, build communication so that that kind of misunderstanding doesn't happen. Some horses are more dangerous and tricky than others and there are many trainers, like myself, that specialize in helping them.
Good luck! I'm glad you have not given up on him.
Best Wishes
