Question
hello sir, in horse racing industry, should a owner select or shouldn't select an under weight thoroughbred yearling at the confirmation ring??

Answer
Hi Caine,
Thank you for writing in with your question.
I have handled race horses before but it isn't really my select field. However, I will do my best to answer your question.
I personally would not buy an under weight horse unless it is slightly under weight.
Yearlings can appear small and "stringy" in the ring and can fill out later on as the horse grows. But an under weight horse is a warning sign that either the horse has some unacceptable genes or has not been taken care of properly. But in the end, it will all come down to whether you like the horse or not. I do not buy horses with my emotions, however. I buy horses for function. And confirmation plays a great role in that.
I know this is a short answer but I tried to answer you the best I could with this.
