Question
Hi, I am going to be getting a weaned 6 month old filly soon and I would like some advice on how to handle and train her for the next couple months, I was also wondering how to earn her trust, and I also have 2 other elderly horses, will they get along at the beginning, or will they have to be separated for a while?

Kind regards,
L

Answer
Sorry for the delay~
I would slowly get your horses together or you can separate your elderly horses and put the most docile one with the baby and let them form a bond before putting them all in together. I wish with just an e-mail I could tell you how to train a colt, I can't, but here is my advise. Remember that one of the magical things about horses is their curiosity! Play with that in your filly~ get her attention and when she gives you both eyes and is looking at you give her some space by backing up. Then I would work with your other horses with her in the arena too, can you get your horses to join up with you and follow you around without any lead? I think you will do a great job, just make sure she has lots of room to run around and let her grow up a bit.
Best Wishes,
Caitlin
