Question
Diva has wind puffs. I keep her turned out and that seems to help. Recenty I noticed she was stocked up. She isnt lame and rode fine on the flat today. Have you seen this before. She I rub linement down on her? Or just cool her and turn her out.

Answer
Hi Victoria, Windpuffs can flare up sometimes when a horse is ridden or running around on a hard surface. Aside from using a cooling linament, you can also cold hose her, use ice boots... But one thing I find helps a lot is to do a poultice to pull out the fluid and take down the swelling. You could use a regular poultice, or do a furasone poultice with cling wrap (cellophane). If you do a furasone poultice, be sure not to leave it on long and hose her down well afterwards getting all of it off of her. You should see a significant change in a day or two of poulticing. Leave me feedback, a nomination if you wish, and follow up to let me know how it is going or if you have any more questions. As volunteers, this is the only way we know that we are doing a good job for you. I am very interested to hear how you make out with her, so keep me posted. Thanks. Regards, Susan
