Question
what does it mean when someone says the horse was "tied-up."  All I know is it has something to do with the back leg mucsles.

Answer
Hi Adrian;

Tying-up can affect any muscle in the body.  It occurs when too much lactic acid builds up in the muscles and they contract painfully and can't release.  It's extremely painful and the protein of the muscle will begin to breakdown.

Sincerely,

Lana Reinhardt
