Question
My two mares, a Haflinger and an Arab, are out in a new grassy field, after eating down the salvage paddock, so is it safe for them to not wear muzzles all day and maybe muzzle them at night in that field?

Answer
if they are used to being fed the grass i would think you wouldn't need a muzzle. if your worried about the grass being eaten to fast i would take then out of the paddock half of the day. i really don't believe you should use muzzles on horses that don't bite.theres no point in turning them out in a grass pasture with a muzzle. your only tempting them and i think it is unfair. but there your horses. if you want them muzzled i would do it during the day so if they get caught on something then people will see it. at night you will only know until after the sun rises. but personally i would just bring them in to a stall or corral at night instead of muzzling them. i hope i answered your question correctly.
