Question
Hi, not sure if you can answer this, I have an old stubben seigfreid saddle from the early seventies in excellent condition, was thinking of selling it and have no idea what the value would be?  Thanks for your time!
Laura

Answer
Dear Laura:
The good news is that quality tack tends to hold its value quite well. Unfortunately, the new Seigfreds have been re-designed significantly and yours will tend to look like an "older model." Nonetheless- because they are so comfortable and all purpose, ones in good condition are often sought after by younger riders and riding school coaches. You might want to ask yourself if your really want to get rid of it since a broken-in Seigfreid is still one of the most comfortable saddles out there. If it is an adult sized seat- I'd try asking 1,200 which leaves you some room for negotiation. I would not take less than 1,000. If it is a child's seat, I'd ask 1,000 and take 900. Since all markets can differ substantially depending on supply and demand- I would definitely do some price comparisons by going to used tack and consignment stores and looking through local horse publications. What is reasonable in my market might be under or over priced in yours.
I hope this is of some help.
